FAQ

General

Q: Why should you hire Kolosek?
A: We are a team of experienced professionals who have been working in the industry for years. We’re constantly striving to improve our knowledge on design, development, and new technologies in order to be able to cater to our client's needs. Our work is our passion, we love happy clients, and it shows in the projects we do.

Q: How long have you been in the business of creating apps?
A: We have been making apps and doing what we do since 2011. We’ve come far since then and hope to become even better in the future!

Q: What kind of businesses do you work with?
A: Mostly tech startups, but we are always more than happy to take on new industries and challenges they bring.

Q: Can you share projects you have worked on?
A: Sure we can! You can head over to the Portfolio page on our website and see exactly what have we worked on for the past couple of years. Keep in mind that portfolio is holding only most recent clients, and some of them are not present due to NDAs.

Q: What do you need from me during the first call?
A: During our first meeting, we will discuss your goals, expectations, how many people you need for your project, and the type of technology needed. We will also touch upon the budget needed for the completion of your project.

Q: I don’t want my idea to be stolen. Would you sign NDAs?
A: Our client’s privacy is our highest priority! We don’t share, discuss, or sell your ideas, regardless of whether you continue to work with us or not. We are a team with integrity who is more than willing to sign NDAs. However, this is usually not needed prior to our very first call.

Process & Project Management

Q: How long does it take to build an app?
A: It depends on the complexity of your app and whether it’s a mobile, web or both. It can range from 1-2 months, to several months, even years. Ongoing adding features can last as long as it’s needed.

Q: What does your software development process look like?
A: The process always depends on the context. We always implement the empirical approach and make our process as adaptive as possible. Thanks to the iterative and incremental approach, we are able to deliver a new version of the working software every week or every two weeks. This allows you to follow our progress with complete transparency and give us feedback often.

Q: What technologies do you work with?
A: Glad you asked! We work with Ruby on Rails, React.js, ReactNative, Vue.js, Node.js, iOS/Android, Elixir, and Phoenix and few more. We are also able to adopt a new technology depending on your project needs.

Q: What kind of tools do you use to communicate with clients and report to them?
A: We usually communicate with our clients via Skype, Slack, and emails. In order to follow and delegate our tasks, we set up one of the project management tools such as Jira, Trello, Pivotal Tracker, or Asana. However, we are flexible and we can adapt to the various communication styles that our clients use.

Q: Who will I be working with during the project?
A: Our designers and developers. We decide who’s in your team once we become familiar with your goals and needs, i.e. when we can tailor the best possible team for you and your business.

Q: Can I be in contact with you throughout the whole process?
A: Of course! We will keep you updated at all times (we can settle on daily or weekly reports, too) and you can contact us whenever you have a suggestion or a question.

Q: Will you accept my feedback while working?
A: Your feedback is incredibly important to us, especially in the early phases of your project. It will help us prioritize our tasks, and give us context about you and your business. So, don’t be afraid to give us feedback whenever you want!

Q: Do you keep on working on a project even after it’s completed?
A: Yes, absolutely! We support our clients as long as it’s needed. In fact, some of our collaborations have lasted for 3 to 4 years, and more.

Q: Do you have any references which I can use to check your claims?
A: Yes, we do. We have worked with companies in Silicon Valley, New York, Texas, London, across Europe, and Australia. We’ll share our references with you if you ask for them.

Payment & Sales

Q: How much does building an app cost?
A: Again, it all depends on how complex you want your app to be, what features it needs to include, and so on. It’s discussed on a “per project” basis. Usually, we can find common ground for our collaboration to function.

Q: Do you offer some kind of a guarantee?
A: As a matter of fact, we do! If you are not satisfied with our work in the first 7 days, you can cancel our services, and we’ll refund you 100%.

Q: How does the payment process work?
A: We send you invoices twice a month or once per month, depending on our arrangement. Sometimes we do ask for a partial payment in advance.

Q: Do I need to sign a contract with you?
A: Yes. We have simple contracts that cover all aspects of our future collaboration. However, we can also use some of your contracts, if that’s your preference.

Q: When can you start working on my project?
A: Usually, we tell our clients to give us a heads up 10 days before they’d like us to start working for them. However, if you really want to start ASAP, we can usually work something out and begin working on your project sooner.

Q: Can you handle highly complex projects?
A: Absolutely. We have built APIs with more than 70 million records in the real estate field, various APIs with response time of just a few milliseconds, and solved problems that a team od 30 people couldn’t. We have also collaborated with prestigious startups in the USA and even with the Universal Studio for several years.

Q: Can you handle big projects?
A: Yes, we can. We are a highly organized team and, as such, we plan things ahead and prepare for growth.

Q: I would like to transition from my current team to you. Is that possible?
A: Yes, of course. Before we begin, it would be great if you could share with us what problems/issues you have with your current team, and the end goal of the transition. We can even take on a project where there is no documentation or poor one.

Other

Q: I’ve been burned by other companies before. How are you different?
A: That’s a good question, given the fact that anybody on the Internet can claim whatever they want. What we do is offer a no-obligation, trial period, so that you can see just how different we are and build trust with us. Our management team is also willing to fly out wherever you need them to be, which means that we’ll gladly meet you in person. You are welcome to visit us, too, and see how well-organized and dedicated we are. We only ask that you don't start with us where you left with previous company - with bitterness and doubt.

Q: We are located in USA. Will time difference be an obstacle?
A: Absolutely not. We worked with companies for years from San Francisco, Austin, New York and several more cities. The key is that we are well organized, low-maintaince team that knows what they are doing. You'll have transparent process, so you can more focus on your business, and we'll have your back from technical perspective. That's a way to success.

Q: Could you share something interesting about yourself?
A: We met with Ruby creator Yukihiro Matsumoto in Berlin, and Rails creator David Heinemeier Hansson (DHH) in Atlanta. Also, we are mentors for our local community and offer our assistance for various open source projects.
